A wheel is lifted by two hydraulic cylinders. When the wheel is lifted above the rail, the instrument detects it and indicates on its digital indicator the wheel load received by a pressure sensor. The hydraulic cylinders are pressurized through a hydraulic pump that can be operated with a single hand.
