ZEPHIR

Italy · Railcar movers & depot shunting
Move rolling stock through depots with a purpose-built railcar mover instead of treating every movement like a locomotive job.
CBP ROUTE

The relationship, without the legal fog.

Registered sole-agent route in Indonesia for covered ZEPHIR railway products.

The Indonesian registration names LOK, LOK-E, LOKOM, CRAB, KUBO and ITT. Current commercial family naming is verified with the OEM before each project.

IN 30 SECONDS

What this technology changes.

ZEPHIR designs compact shunting equipment around depot movement. The real selection variable is not a brochure towing-capacity number: it is train resistance under the actual mass, gradient, curve, adhesion, duty cycle and braking/coupling conditions.
01

The problem

Vehicles must move for maintenance, production and stabling even when their own traction is unavailable.
02

The design choice

Decide road-rail mobility, emissions, duty severity and required train interfaces before selecting a family.
03

The engineering gate

CBP confirms the movement-duty calculation; a nominal capacity never substitutes for resistance and adhesion analysis.
THE CBP-RELEVANT OFFERING

A system, not a catalogue.

CBP’s registered scope covers the core ZEPHIR shunting families. Exact current model names and options are confirmed against the live OEM configuration.
01

CRAB EZ family

Compact road-rail movers that can leave the track and reposition on road surfaces, reducing dependence on fixed rail access points.
Best fit
Depots needing flexible road-rail movement and compact access.
02

LOK E family

Electric rail-only movers for zero-emission depot shunting, with current OEM variants spanning multiple heavy-duty classes.
Best fit
Indoor or emissions-sensitive rail-only movement with charging infrastructure.
03

LOK / heavy-duty rail-only family

Purpose-built rail movers for higher-duty shunting where road mobility is unnecessary and movement resistance is higher.
Best fit
Heavy consists, repeated movements and demanding depot routes.
04

LOKOM / registered family

A registered ZEPHIR product family; current project availability and exact configuration are confirmed before offering.
Best fit
Project-specific shunting duties where its current OEM role is appropriate.
05

Coupler & brake integration

Project-specific coupling, train air-brake and interface options that allow the mover to control the consist rather than only push against it.
Best fit
Longer or heavier consists and controlled depot movements.
06

Remote operation & control

Remote-control and operator-assistance options where supported by the selected mover.
Best fit
Tight depots, visibility constraints and precise positioning.
07

Gauge / environment configuration

Gauge, rail profile, clearances, weather and tropical/environmental conditions are project inputs, not afterthoughts.
Best fit
Indonesian depots and mixed site conditions.
08

Lifecycle support

Commissioning, operator training, maintenance, spare parts and troubleshooting around the configured mover.
Best fit
Installed-base availability and safe repeat use.
PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE

How the portfolio fits together.

01

Road-rail flexibility

CRAB route where the mover must enter/leave track.
02

Zero-emission rail-only

LOK E route where emissions and indoor work control.
03

Heavy rail-only duty

LOK route where resistance and repeated shunting dominate.
04

Interfaces

Coupler, train brake, remote, gauge and site configuration close the system.
SELECTION LOGIC

A shunting selector that starts from physics.

This narrows the family. Final configuration still requires project data.
STEP 1

Do you need road-rail mobility?

YES → investigate CRAB first. NO → keep the vehicle on rail and move to the emissions/duty question.
STEP 2

Must operation be zero-emission?

YES → investigate LOK E / electric routes first and confirm charging infrastructure and duty cycle. NO → electric can still be viable, but it is no longer a hard constraint.
STEP 3

What is the real movement duty?

Provide consist mass, individual vehicle masses, movement frequency and distance. “Light / medium / heavy” is only a screening label until resistance is calculated.
STEP 4

Do gradient, curves or poor adhesion matter?

Any meaningful gradient, tight curve, contaminated rail or wet-condition requirement can change tractive effort. This is where simple capacity tables fail.
STEP 5

How will the consist be controlled?

Define coupler geometry, train air-brake requirement, remote control, visibility, clearances and operating procedure.
STEP 6

Likely family, then calculation

CBP can now narrow to CRAB, LOK E or LOK. Final configuration is confirmed from the actual movement-duty calculation and OEM review.
WHY THIS PRINCIPAL?

The useful difference is in the mechanism.

WHAT A GENERIC DESCRIPTION SAYS

“A small locomotive.”

That framing hides the operating advantage: depot shunting is a bounded movement problem and may not justify locomotive mass, infrastructure or operating overhead.
WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES

A mover engineered around depot duty.

ZEPHIR combines compact geometry, road-rail options, electric routes and project-specific coupling/braking. The value appears when the movement workflow is designed around the depot.
PROJECT PROOF

Evidence, with the stage left intact.

INDONESIA · HISTORICAL DELIVERY

PT KCJ / commuter railway · shunting track motor car

Product / application
Railway shunting equipment supplied by CBP for commuter-depot movement.

Stage
Delivered-project record from 2016. Product-model attribution must be confirmed before naming a specific modern ZEPHIR model.
What the evidence proves
CBP has Indonesian commuter-depot experience with purpose-built shunting equipment. The historical delivery does not prove that a current ZEPHIR model is identical.
INDONESIA · CURRENT DEVELOPMENT

Stage
Application development / qualification; no new award is implied here.
What the evidence proves
CBP is actively able to convert a movement duty into an OEM configuration while keeping stage boundaries intact.
WHAT CBP ADDS

The local job is more than forwarding a brochure.

  • Collect the movement-duty inputs instead of asking only for train mass.
  • Model resistance drivers with the OEM before product commitment.
  • Coordinate gauge, coupler, brake and control interfaces.
  • Check depot route, clearance and road-rail access geometry.
  • Coordinate charging/fuelling and operational workflow where relevant.
  • Support commissioning, operator familiarisation and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain spares and lifecycle route for installed equipment.
  • Keep historic references separate from current model equivalence.
ENGINEERING LAYER

What matters once the shortlist is right.

A 300 t consist on level dry straight track is a different duty from the same mass on a gradient, curve or poor rail. Starting resistance and adhesion can dominate model selection.

CRAB-type mobility can reduce dependence on a dedicated shunting track entry point, but site paving, crossing geometry, rail access and clearances must be qualified.

Zero local emissions are valuable indoors, but battery energy, charging window, movement frequency and ambient conditions must fit the actual shift.

A mover that is required to operate the consist’s air brake needs compatible interfaces and an agreed operating procedure. Coupling alone is not the same function.

WHAT CBP NEEDS FROM YOU

Send the inputs that actually control selection.

  • Vehicle / consist mass and axle arrangement
  • Number of vehicles per movement
  • Track gauge and rail profile
  • Route drawing, distance and minimum curve radius
  • Maximum gradient
  • Rail condition / expected adhesion
  • Indoor, outdoor or mixed use
  • Movement frequency and duty cycle
  • Road-rail mobility required?
  • Zero-emission requirement / charging infrastructure
  • Coupler type and height
  • Train air-brake requirement
  • Remote-control requirement
  • Tropical / water / dust / temperature conditions
CBP will use these inputs to confirm the correct family and then coordinate exact configuration with the OEM.
