MEASURE & INSPECT / RAILWAY GAUGES

Put the exact railway limit directly in the technician's hands.

A mechanical gauge is powerful because it turns a drawing, rule or wear limit into a fast physical check. The critical requirement is using the right gauge for the exact component.

In practice: instead of measuring everything from scratch, use a purpose-built gauge that tells the technician whether the component is inside the required limit.

USA · Railroad gauge specialist

Rule-, drawing- and profile-specific railway gauges plus master-gauge and verification support.

PRODUCT OPTIONS

Winchester organizes the product around the component being checked.

The range covers wheels, wheelsets, couplers, trucks, side frames, bolsters, bearing adapters, axles and master gauges.

01

W600 / W601 / W600-10A

Wheel-gauge families for controlled wheel inspection.

Best for: routine wheel dimensional checks

02

W620 / W401

Wheel-defect and worn-hollow-tread gauges.

Best for: specific wheel wear and defect limits

03

W783M

Check wheelset back-to-back distance.

Best for: wheelset geometry control

04

W902-5

Check coupler height using a dedicated railway gauge.

Best for: vehicle/coupler acceptance

05

Type E / F / Tightlock Gauges

Inspect the geometry and wear of specific coupler families.

Best for: coupler maintenance programs

06

Truck / Side-Frame / Bolster / Master Gauges

Bring workshop inspection limits into dedicated tooling.

Best for: heavy maintenance and gauge-control programs

HOW IT WORKS

The drawing chooses the gauge, not the other way around.

01

Identify the exact component

Wheel, coupler, truck, axle or another controlled part.

02

Identify the governing geometry

Rule, drawing, profile and tolerance.

03

Use the dedicated gauge

Make a fast repeatable workshop check.

04

Control the gauge itself

Maintain verification, master gauges and asset records.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Similar-looking gauges can enforce different rules.

A gauge only has value when it corresponds to the exact component and acceptance method. Substituting by appearance can create a false pass or false reject.

Before: technicians interpret dimensions manually or use mixed tools.

After: a controlled gauge directly represents the required limit.

CBP'S ROLE

The product is only useful when it fits the real railway job.

CBP identifies the exact component and acceptance basis, then routes the requirement to Winchester for the correct gauge, verification and lifecycle support.

NEXT STEP

Need the exact gauge for a railway component?

Send the component, drawing, rule or existing gauge reference. CBP will identify the Winchester route.
